How to root Samsung Galaxy Tab Active LTE and Wifi Version Only

Step-by-step guide on how to gain root access on the new Galaxy Tab Active
A handful of features is what makes this Galaxy Tab model “active.” The device is able to withstand drops of up to 1.2 meters in height via the protective cover that comes with the tablet. The Galaxy Tab Active is also IP67-certified dust and water resistant; it can be submerged in water of up to 1 meter in depth for a maximum of 30 minutes.
The new tablet model has just been released this month but if you want to get the most of its performance, gaining root access to it is a good start. Important reminders before you proceed
  • Gaining root access to devices is a method that is neither supported nor endorsed by Google or Samsung. Therefore, proceeding means that you understand all the risks and will not hold The Bitbag accountable for anything that goes wrong. Rooting will also invalidate your tablet’s warranty.
  • Make sure that your Galaxy Tab Active is at least 50% charged and that you backup important data.
  • Activate USB Debugging on your tablet by going to Settings > About > then tap Build number for about seven times until an alert saying “You are now a developer” appears. Next, go to Developer Options then enable USB Debugging.

Steps on how to root the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active

  • Download the right root package for your device below. Unzip it to get the file with “.tar.md5” extension and save it on your desktop for easy access.
  • Download and install Samsung USB drivers on your computer. You may skip this step if you already have it.
  • Install and launch Odin v3.09 on your computer. Open it by right-clicking the icon and choosing “run as administrator.
  • In Odin, click on “PDA” and select the root file you extracted earlier.
  • Tick the boxes next to Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time. Make sure that the Re-Partition option is unchecked.
  • Turn off your Galaxy Tab Active and turn it off again by pressing and holding the following buttons together: Volume Down button , Home, button, Power button
  • Boot into download mode by pressing the Volume Up button when you see a warning message.
  • Connect your device to your computer using a USB cable and wait for Odin to detect your device.
  • After that, hit the Start button in Odin to begin the flashing the root package.
  • Your Galaxy Tab Active should reboot automatically and Odin will display a green “Pass!” message. Check if you’ve done the method properly by going to your phone’s app drawer and see if the SuperSU app is present.
