The Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 is an 8-inch tablet device launched by Samsung back in July 2013. It’s a member of the third-generation of Samsung Galaxy Tab series which also includes a 7-inch and 8-inch model.
The device was released with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Beanrunning out of the box. It’s powered by an 1.6 GHz, dual-core Intel Atom Z2560 coupled with 1GB RAM. It is currently upgradable to Android 4.4.2 KitKat but if you want to skip it and update the device to the current Android 5.0.1 Lollipopit is possible thanks to an XDA Senior Member who posted the necessary files and instructions in this forum thread.
A number of features including Bluetooth, camera, and others are still buggy but if you go through the said thread, the developer is regularly updating the ROM file to fix them. Check out our outlined guide below on how to flash thecustom ROM on your tablet.
Steps on how to install unofficial Android 5.0.1 custom ROM on the Galaxy Tab 3 10.1

- SuperSU (for root access)
- Boot your handset in TWRP recovery mode and perform a factory reset by choosing Wipe > Advanced Wipe > then select System and Wipe
- Once done, go back to the main menu and choose “Install zip from SD card”
- Find the folder where you saved the files earlier, select the Lollipop ROM and flash it by tapping on “Swipe to Confirm Flash” then wait until the process is complete
- After that, do the previous step to the other two files.
- After flashing all the files, you may now return to the main menu then choose Reboot and tap on System.
